Tips for Spring:

AIR CONDITIONING:

  • Make sure that outside unit is not covered with leaves or other debris
  • Change or clean the filters Be sure all access panels are secured — check the screws
  • Set thermostat and run unit to make sure it operates

Have these checked:

  • Refrigerant levels — check for leaks
  • All electrical components and controls
  • Condition of evaporator and condenser coils — are they clean?
  • Oil motors if needed
  • Thermostat calibration by Dovepress
  • Check condenser for cracks

EVAPORATIVE AIR (SWAMP COOLER):

  • Have unit cleaned, belt tension checked and adjusted if necessary, belt replaced if required
  • Clean or replace air filter
  • Clean condenser or evaporator coils and condensate drain
  • Remove debris from outdoor portion of unit

ATTIC:

  • Make sure all gable, soffit and ridge vents are open to allow proper ventilation
  • Make sure insulation covers the entire attic floor
  • Make sure attic and/or whole house fans are working properly

CARBON MONOXIDE AND SMOKE DETECTORS:

  • Change batteries and check to make sure they operate properly
